DESIGN:

The compact and sturdy HP Office Jet printer measures 496 X 420 X 203 (WxDXH) mm and weighs only 8.62 kg. Due to light weight and portable design, can easily shift from one place to another. There is 250 sheet input tray and 150 sheet output tray. Features 2 inches monographic display with tactile buttons which is quite intuitive and easy to use.

PRINT PERFORMANCE:

The printer produces professional quality colour as well as black texts which are perfect in printing reports, email and much more. The prints are water, smear as well as fade resistant and high print speed of up to 22 ppm for black and 18 ppm for colour. The first page is printed in as fast as 9 seconds for black and 10 seconds for colour. The monthly duty cycle of HP printer is up to 30,000 pages, has up to 250 to 1500 pages recommended monthly page volume.

CONNECTIVITY:

HP Office Jet Pro 8710 Multifunction Printer comes with various connectivity options such as Hi speed USB 2.0, built-in wired Ethernet, built-in wireless networking and Wi-Fi direct. Also enables to print directly from mobile devices like smart phone and tablets.

UNBOXING OF HP OFFICEJET PRO 8710:
  1. The first thing is to do is unlock the box.
  2. In box there is an installation CD for both Windows and MAC.
  3. Next CD in the box is the Read iris Pro installation disc.
  4. Read iris pro is optical character recognition software. This software will convert written text into documents that can be abridged on computer.
  5. Next item is setup flyer, which is basic set up instructions for printer.
  6. Next is the HP Ink Cartridge caution flyer.
  7. HP Instant Ink card for this printer is available. HP offers a subscription service for replacement ink.
  8. The last document in the box is the User Guide for printer. This provides information on setting up additional features for printer such as fax and web services.
  9. Next is the power cord and two wire phone cord for setting up printer’s fax connection.
  10. Then we have the setup cartridges, setup cartridges are used to initialize the printer and calibrate ink levels.
  11. These are 952 black, cyan, yellow and magenta ink cartridges.
  12. Take away cardboard and set aside for recycling, all HP package materials are capable of being recycled.
  13. The best way to do this is to set the box on side, making sure the bottom of the printer faces down.
  14. Pull out the Styrofoam end caps. Then use the clear plastic bag to slide the printer out of the box.
  15. Set the box aside for recycling. Get rid of the printer from the container.
  16. Next is to eliminate all of the visible blue tape from around the printer and also do away with two pieces of tape on the rear of the printer.
  17. Do away with clear cellophane from HP logo, and then eradicate remaining tape that holds down the scanner lid.
  18. Take out small piece of blue tape and cellophane covering the printer control panel.
  19. Then confiscate the last two pieces of tape from the input and output trays.
  20. Eradicate any protective plastic around smooth, black areas of printer.
  21. Unbolt the scanner lid and take away the foam sheet. Then shut the scanner lid.

  23. Slide in the input tray; now let’s connect the power cord. Go to back of the printer.
  24. Eliminate the twist tie from power cord and plug into the rear of the printer.
  25. Plug the other end of the power cord into a power source.
  26. Press the power button to turn on the printer. Printer will begin initializing and make some noise.
  27. From printer control panel, choose language and select language and tap yes to confirm.
  28. Then select country or region and touch confirm. Set the date and touch continues, then set the time and touch continue and again touch continue setup.
  29. From Printer Setup Environment screen, then pat Self-Managed or IT-Managed. IT-Managed is for advanced configuration typically by an IT department. For most users, Self-Managed. Then touch continues.
  30. Now install the cartridges that came with the printer. Undo ink cartridge access door then grab the bundled cartridges.
  31. Do away with the cartridges from the packaging, when setting up printer. Starting with 952 magenta, insert the corresponding slot in the Print head. Push to snap into place
  32. These cartridges are keyed so they will only go into their corresponding slot.
  33. Next install yellow, then cyan and lastly black. Black cartridge is larger than other cartridges.
  34. Seal the ink cartridge access door. Printer will check the cartridges and then load the paper.
  35. Slide out the paper input tray and align a stack of plain white paper and load into the tray.
  36. Adjust the paper length and width guides and then slide in the input tray then touch ok on Instant Ink prompt and then continue to initialize the printer.
  37. During the initialization, printer will align the print head and print out a page.
  38. Once the alignment page prints, eradicate and recycle of page. Then we can setup software on computer.
  39. Then go to computer, unfasten the web browser. Click the download button to begin downloading software of printer.
  40. If prompted in Internet Explorer, click the Run button. Once downloaded, installer will extract and then untie.
  41. If prompted by User Account Control in Windows, click yes. HP east start utility opens, this connects printer to network, activate and register printer and install the drivers and software and click continue.
  42. Click the checkbox to agree the terms and click continue. HP Easy Start will detect printer.
  43. To automatically connect printer to the same wireless network on computer is connected, confirm Enable HP Auto Wireless Connect is checked and clack continue.
  44. Installer will connect to the printer and apply the wireless settings from computer to printer.
  45. Click checkbox to agree to the terms and then click continue. Installer checks for latest software and printers for driver.
  46. Then download the software, once downloaded printer software installation will extract and then release.
  47. From this screen, then customize software selections. Then install I.R.I.S OCR software automatically.
  48. Clack next and read through the installation agreements and settings. Tick checkbox to agree to the terms, and click next. Then install the software and drivers, set the printer for wireless option then click next.
  49. Installer detects printers on network and lists them pick the printer and clack next.
  50. Fax Setup Wizard set up fax line, setup printer for faxing and confirms 2-wire phone cord with printer. Then follows prompts to complete fax setup and click next to finish setting up the software for printer. Then tap ok on control panel.
  51. Do away with the web services information sheet, after software is installed then register and activate the software and then snap continue.
WIRELESS CONNECTION SETUP:
BEGINNING:

Ensure the following:

  • Printer is not connected to network using Ethernet cable.

While connecting printer, prompted to enter wireless network name (SSID) and wireless password.

  • Wireless network name is the name of wireless network.
  • Wireless password prevents other people from connecting to wireless network (i.e.) WEP or WPA key.
PRINTER ON WIRELESS NETWORK:
  1. From printer control panel, swipe down the tab at the top of screen open dashboard, then tap Wireless.
  2. Contact Settings.
  3. Pat Wireless Settings.
  4. Tap Wireless Setup Wizard.
  5. Follow display instructions to complete 123 hp setup 8710.
CHANGE CONNECTION TYPE:
CHANGE ETHERNET CONNECTION TO WIRELESS:
  1. Confiscate Ethernet cable from printer.
  2. Run the Wireless Setup Wizard to make wireless connection.
CHANGE USB CONNECTION TO WIRELESS NETWORK (WINDOWS):

CHANGE USB CONNECTION TO WIRELESS NETWORK (OS X):
  1. Click printer on wireless network.
  2. Change software connection to wireless for printer.
CHANGE FROM WIRELESS CONNECTION TO USB OR ETHERNET CONNECTION (WINDOWS):

Attach USB or Ethernet cable to printer.

CHANGE FROM WIRELESS CONNECTION TO USB OR ETHERNET CONNECTION (OS X):
  1. Unbolt System Preferences.
  2. Depending on operating system, click Printers & Scanners.
  3. Choose printer in the left pane and clack at the bottom of the list.
  4. Release HP utility.
  5. Choose Devices > Setup New Device and follow prompts.
TEST WIRELESS CONNECTION:
  1. From printer control panel, swipe down the tab at the top of screen open dashboard, then contact Wireless.
  2. Pat Print Reports.
  3. Finger Wireless Test Report.
TURN ON OR OFF THE WIRELESS CAPABILITY OF PRINTER:

TROUBLESHOOTING ISSUES:
JAMS AND PAPER-FEED ISSUES:
CLEAR A PAPER JAM:
CLEAR A PAPER JAM FROM INPUT TRAY:
  1. Take away input tray by pulling all the way out of the printer.
  2. Check input tray area underneath the printer. Get rid of the jammed paper.
  3. Insert input tray back into the printer.
CLEAR A PAPER JAM FROM PRINT ZONE:
  1. Press power button to turn off the printer.
  2. From the front of the printer, open the cartridge access door.
  3. Move the print carriage to the far right of the printer, and do away with jammed paper.
  4. Move the print carriage to the far left of the printer, and confiscate jammed paper.
  5. Slam cartridge access door.
  6. Press power button to turn on the printer.
CLEAR PAPER JAM FROM REAR OF THE PRINTER:
  1. Press the two tabs on the rear access door and unwrap the door.
  2. Do away with any jammed paper.
  3. Press both tabs on the paper path cover and take away the cover.
  4. Get rid of any jammed paper.
  5. Insert paper path cover.
  6. Lock the rear access door.
CLEAR PAPER JAM FROM DOCUMENT FEEDER:
  1. Lift the cover of the document feeder.
  2. Lift the document feeder tab from the side.
  3. Draw jammed paper out of the rollers.
  4. Secure the document feeder tab.
  5. Put up the shutters the cover of the document feeder until snaps into space.
SMARTPHONE SETUP:

Printer is used to print documents and photos directly from mobile devices such as Smartphone or tablet.

IOS:

Use the print option to share menu. No setup is required since ios Air print is preinstalled.

ANDROID:

Download and enable the HP print service plug-in.

Use the HP All-in-One Printer Remote app to 123.hp.com/setup 8710 and use HP printer for scanning, printing and sharing documents. Install from app store for mobile device.

EPRINT SETUP:
  1. Sure to have internet and email capable computer.
  2. Enable web services on the printer.
PRINT DOCUMENTS USING EPRINT:
  1. On computer, unfasten email application.
  2. Create new email message and then attach the file to print.
  3. Enter HP ePrint email address in the “To” field and then select the option to send the email message.
TO FIND EPRINT EMAIL MESSAGE:
  1. From printer control panel, swipe down the tab at the top of screen open dashboard, then tap ePrint.
  2. Touch Print Info. Printer prints an information page that contains the printer code and it gives the instructions to customize the email address.
TO TURN OFF EPRINT:
  1. From printer control panel, swipe down the tab at the top of screen unbolt dashboard, then pat ePrint and then touch Web Services Settings.
  2. Tap ePrint and then tap off.
GOOGLE CLOUD PRINT SETUP:

To print over Wi-Fi from computer or share printer with others, connect printer to Google cloud print.

REQUIREMENTS:
  • Computer that connects to Wi-Fi.
  • Computer with chrome browser installed.
STEP 1:
CONNECT TO WI-FI:
  1. Turn on printer
  2. Connect to Wi-Fi network. Follow printer’s manufacturer instructions.
  3. Turn on computer.
  4. Connect computer to same Wi-Fi network as printer.
STEP 2:
PRINTER IS CLOUD READY:
  1. If printer name has “v2” then printer is cloud ready version 2.0
  2. If printer name doesn’t has “v2” then printer is cloud ready version 1.0
  3. If printer is not listed, then printer is not cloud-ready. Connect with Wi-Fi to Google Cloud Print.
STEP 3:
CONNECT PRINTER TO GOOGLE CLOUD PRINT:
CONNECT PRINTER WITH NOT GOOGLE CLOUD PRINT:
  1. On PC, find system settings then find printing section.
  2. Add printer to computer.
  3. Unbolt chrome.
  4. Type chrome: //devices and press Enter.
  5. Under “classic printers”, click Add Printers.
  6. In the “printers to register” section, select the printer to share then click Add printer.
  7. To check if printer was added, click Manage printers.
CONNECT CLOUD-READY PRINTER (2.0):
  1. On computer, undo chrome.
  2. Type chrome: //devices and press Enter.
  3. Under “New devices”, find printer.
  4. Next to printer, click Manage.
  5. In the “Confirm registration” box appears and then clack Register.
  6. On printer screen, follow steps to finish registering. Then press a button for register or ok.
  7. To check if printer is registered on computer and go to website and then click printers.
CONNECT CLOUD-READY PRINTER (1.0):
  1. On computer open cloud-ready printer’s page.
  2. Click printer manufacturer.
  3. At bottom of section, click the link to go manufacturers help website.
  4. Follow manufacturer’s steps to setup printer.
AIR PRINT SETUP:

Use print with Air print remotely to the printing from an iPad, iPhone or iPod touch in the portable applications:

  • Mail
  • Photos
  • Safari
  • Supported outsider applications.
PRINT WITH AIR PRINT:
  1. The printer that should be associated with the same system as Air print empowered gadget.
  2. Load paper in the paper tray that should matches the paper settings of the printer.
